Refractory Selection Guide for Copper Producers

Taurus Refractories manufactures a complete line of refractories for use in copper production. Refractory products are offered in a range of brick and castable formulations that can withstand high temperatures and the adverse effects of slag. They meet the stringent demands of primary smelting, anode and secondary copper furnaces. Products for copper converters are also available.

In primary smelting vessels, direct-bonded chrome-magnesite refractories such as NARMAG HNF 27 and NARMAG HNF 31 are used. Anode furnaces require low porosity, low silica refractories. Top Blown Rotary Converter  smelters require high purity, high strength, fused-grain refractories such as NARMAG FG. In these furnaces, alumina-chrome monolithic refractories such as phosphate-bonded JADEPAK 88P or other castables are used for areas that are difficult to brick.

Refractory Materials for Copper Producers In the following sections silicon carbide refractories manufactured by Taurus Refractories suited to use by copper producers are outlined. These products have been successfully used in the copper industry.
